About Australian Kite Surfari
Australian Kite Surfari was established to provide experienced kite surfers with the ultimate adventure.
We make it easy for you with pick-ups from Cairns, northern beaches, Port Douglas or Mossman, between May and September, driving you north to an isolated beach between Cape Bedford and Cape Flattery, about 1 hour north of Cooktown.
For those who want to spend less time in the coach, there’s the option of catching a flight from Cairns to Cooktown. We can collect your gear in Cairns and you from Cooktown on the way through. Hinterland Aviation have daily flights between Cairns and Cooktown, with a courtesy coach from the airport to Sovereign Hotel. The flight is an optional extra expense to the Surfari with bookings and payment made directly with Hinterland Aviation.
Once we arrive into camp, the beach is yours! Australian Kite Surfari is the only operator to have special permission to use this beach, which is located on traditional Aboriginal lands.
There is no set itinerary and experienced guides are on-hand to provide local knowledge and expertise on the area, the wind, the flora and the fauna.
At Australian Kite Surfari, we believe you can only progress with your kiting, when you are surrounded by like-minded people. We’re always there to give advice and lend a hand. We also deliver a unique, remote, pristine environment to practice and hone your skills, or just enjoy kitesurfing the way you like it. One thing is guaranteed – there’s never a dull moment on an Australian Kite Surfari!
Your Hosts
Ant Hadleigh and Paulette Smith are your Australian Kite Surfari hosts. Ant has been coming to this area for over 20 years. He knows the coastal creeks, the tides, the wind and where to find the best freshwater coastal springs, right on the beach. Paulette is his partner in life and kiting. They’ve followed their dreams in creating Australian Kite Surfari and a truly sustainable, off the grid lifestyle for their family.
They are constantly making amends to the camp (Tank Town), their facilities and equipment, to deliver a truly unique and memorable kitesurfing adventure for you and your mates.
