About Australian Kite Surfari
Australian Kite Surfari was established to provide experienced kite surfers with the ultimate adventure.
Departing from Cairns, northern beaches, Port Douglas or
Mossman, between April and November, the four day / three night and eight day / seven night Surfaris will take you to an isolated beach at Cape
Flattery, about 1.5 hours north of Cooktown.
Once there, the beach is yours! Australian Kite Surfari is the only operator to have special permission to use this beach, which is located on traditional Aboriginal lands.
There is no set itinerary and experienced guides are on-hand to provide local knowledge and expertise on the area, the wind, the flora and the fauna.
Ant Hadleigh, your Australian Kite Surfari host, has been coming to this area for over 20 years. He knows the coastal creeks, the tides, the wind and where to find the best freshwater coastal springs, right on the beach.
Your Australian Kite Surfari has been planned down to the last detail: all you have to do is bring your kite, your clothes and a sense of adventure. Ant will take care of the driving, the accommodation, the food, the drinks, the camp and the planning.

- At the end of the day, enjoy a hot or cold shower and kick back in front of a beach bonfire;
- Dinner will recharge your tanks and could be fresh fish, prawns or even a roast meal;
- Climb up into your top-of-4WD Surfari tent, enjoy cooling tropical breezes and listen to the waves break gently on the beach, as you drift off to sleep.
Wildlife
Australian Kite Surfari takes you from Cairns and Port Douglas through the World Heritage listed Wet Tropics Rainforests, Daintree National Park, over the Bloomfield River and on to the golden sands and clear blue waters of its secret kitesurfing location.
Just getting there is an experience! As well as enjoying one of north-east Queensland's most picturesque coastal drives (between Cairns and Port Douglas) you will drive through the world's oldest continually surviving tropical rainforests.
You will see ancient trees, lush tree ferns and climbing wait-a-while palms. If you watch closely, you might see the giant Southern Cassowary, which is Australia's heaviest, flightless bird. An endangered species, the Southern Cassowary is often seen around the Daintree.
Other native animals you may encounter during your Australian Kite Surfari include: kangaroos, dingos, lizards, butterflies and many hundreds of species of birds - coastal and rainforest. Make sure you bring your camera!
